We’ll be golfing soon!

Posted on Sat, 09/27/2008 - 06:11

The rough layout of the golf course we are creating is complete. We will be adding much more detail such as the flag sticks, putting greens, tee boxes, signs and cart/walking paths, after we get the programming for the game done. So far creating this course has been an absolute blast, I cannot wait to work on it more and be able to play 9 holes of golf anytime I want! As you can see from the picture below we have included many sand bunkers, water hazards and begun work laying out the cart path. Hope to be golfing with you soon!

Did you see our ad in the 2008 SLNN Conference Magazine?

Posted on Fri, 09/19/2008 - 23:23

We decided to take some initiative for ourselves and advertise in the official magazine for the 2008 Second Life News Network Conference this past September. Second Life Golf Course Has a Bridge & Walkways

Posted on Fri, 09/19/2008 - 12:05

We are really rolling now on the Golf course now that power is restored and internet is slowly becoming accessible throughout Ohio. We now have the heads up display ready for the users and the golf clubs prepared. The overall result of the island will allow users to play 9 holes and it will track their personal scores. There will be a leader board for fewest strokes that will record every person that fully played a 9 hole game! Thank you coffee shops for having Internet access otherwise we would be lost! See progress from today below:

Power slowly being restored

Posted on Fri, 09/19/2008 - 09:12

The wind storm may have knocked us back and even though we may have to work from different locations, the Designing Digitally team is diligently working to finish open projects. With power slowly being restored and deadlines quickly approaching, our focus has been centered on completing American Business College and our golf-course project. All of the buildings for ABCi have been created and textured, and all but one have been furnished. Once this final building is complete, we will allow review time, as we do on all of our projects, and hope to have the island open soon. Below are snapshots from Second Life of the ABCi high school and university lobbies as well as the outdoor auditorium.

Hurricane Hit Us In Ohio!!!

Posted on Tue, 09/16/2008 - 21:30

Regardless that we are 1000's of miles from the hurricane we are being affected here in the Midwest Region of the U.S.A. Due to the terrible storm and winds from the hurricane Ohio has lost power over 650,000 people and businesses. Sadly enough one of those businesses is us! We are not able to use our phone system, internet, or even turn on our computers due to the outage throughout Ohio. However, we do have the local Starbucks and Panera where you will see our team working diligently to get back on our feet momentarily until the power and telephone company has fixed our issues. If at any time you have a question you can call our President personally at 1-866-316-9126. We were lucky enough to get the phone number switched to his cell phone until the power is back on! Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. For more information regarding this issue please see: http://www.wcpo.com/content/specials/2008/blackout_2008/default.aspx

Yes we create avatars!

Posted on Tue, 09/09/2008 - 21:26

This past week we were requested by one of our clients to develop avatars of staff members from their organization. We cannot provide you with the real life pictures of these people but can provide you with the pictures of the avatars! We can develop avatars from profile pictures provided by the client. We are able to do a full face wrap by taking their face into Photoshop and wrapping it around the avatars face to ensure the closest resemblance possible to the face, skin, hair, facial hair, clothing, accessories, and body structure. Otherwise we can develop the avatars in world without the face wrap to ensure the closest look we can get to the real life person. Both ways turn out fantastic due to our artists talented abilities. You can see our talent below:

Golfing Anyone? - Second Life Island Ground Breaking

Posted on Fri, 09/05/2008 - 12:33

We are very proud to say that today we broke ground on a Second Life island for a client. We are under and NDA with the client so therefore we cannot announce who this client is. However, I can inform you what we are building. We are making a Pebble Beach type 9 hole golf course and two abstract buildings that will be built and supported by the cliffs. The 9 hole golf course will not only be playable by avatars but will keep your score of strokes with a Heads Up Display (HUD). This golf course will be overlooked by the two beautiful buildings that will be very abstract and prove to people that SL does not have to adhere to the gravity laws that are in real life. Keep watching our blog to see more about this build:
