We are proud to announce the development of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Library Virtual Headquarters. The structure was built to function as a meeting headquarters and public resource space containing links to all of the library's web content including a historical photo archive showcased in the building. The structure is placed on eduisland3 as part of an institutional grid of many different organizations. You may now view this development as they have opened it to the public. We’ve broken ground on another virtual world headquarters and training facility! #secondlife

Posted on Tue, 08/18/2009 - 00:15

We are happy to announce that we broke ground on another virtual world project today. The space will be architecturally designed as a beautiful mansion in the south Hamptons. This space will be the virtual headquarters for the client and focused on training upper management at their corporation. This client will use the virtual space to deliver distance meetings, online collaboration, and online branch meetings. Surrounding this headquarters will consist of serious game based learning tools that will allow users to interact with the space while succeeding in company assessments. We are proud to break ground on this space and will keep posting to show you the progress throughout the development. Below is a picture of the new virtual word sim and our team preparing to start the build.

Note: Sean (far left avatar) was asked to reset his avatar after this picture was taken.

He should not be taller than Andrew as he is officially the shortest person in our office. LOL!

Congrats To Our Employee - 2009 SIGGRAPH Crowd Favorite Award Winner!

Posted on Tue, 08/11/2009 - 20:33

We are proud to announce that our Lead Interactive Media Designer at Designing Digitally, Inc., Greg Wark, has won Crowd Favorite at the 2009 SIGGRAPH GameJam! 24hr character design, character modeling, character texturing, character rigging, and character animation challenge. The contest was to create a fully functional character and detailed short story within 24 straight hours from storyboard production to the entire finalized animation. They had worked straight through while distractions were presented to them to make them lose focus. Regardless of how many distractions were introduced, Greg was successfully able to develop the characters to allow his avatar to be chosen as the Crowd Favorite in the 2009 GameJam! at SIGGRAPH hosted in New Orleans. Below is a snapshot of the character built by our creative designer. Everyone here at Designing Digitally, Inc. is very proud of Greg and am very glad to have him on our development team.

Web Based Serious Game Complete!

Posted on Mon, 08/03/2009 - 23:00

We are proud to announce the development of a web-based online learning module that was created for one of our non-disclosed clients. This tool allows for randomization of events within the learning tool to allow for a dynamic and unique path each time a user authenticates.

This tool is used to help determine if the employee is making ethical decisions at work. The serious game learning module will also allow for the users to be guided through the game or to socialize with other online players in the lounge area. The serious game measures your ability to chose the right decisions regarding sexual harassment, employee confidentiality, employee conflict of interest, employee rights, and company change efforts.

This particular learning module is SCORM 1.2 and 2004 compliant and is tracking the users time, score of both the pre and post assessments, and bookmarks the user on each chapter to ensure the ability to come back to the previous place where he or she left off. We packaged this into the client’s current learning management system and it implements with a simple import of our zip file.

Because we have an NDA with our client, we are unable to provide you with the actual module; however, we can provide you with screen shots.
