For a number of years, FCA US LLC has been conducting instructor-led training on the topics of lobbying, gifts, and political activity. FCA was previously implementing its training by a single person within a classroom setting. The company recognized that the information needed to be provided to a broader and larger workforce audience while reducing workload on in-class trainers. This learning topic is taken very seriously by FCA and could lead to negative consequences if procedures and policies are not adhered to by FCA employees. The client was looking for the best solution to ensure the same consistent message was provided to all learners along with the ability to provide content to a large body of FCA employees.
Designing Digitally, Inc. worked as a consultant to develop a detailed training curriculum regarding the external rules and regulations and internal corporate policies that apply to interactions with government officials. The team determined that the best approach was to develop a 2D eLearning module that allows users to experience the scenarios that they may witness out in the field when interacting with government employees and politicians while working for FCA. This included but was not limited to interactive scenarios, innovative learning styles, branching learning experiences, and a fun yet engaging assessment.
The module contained multiple interactions throughout, including a scenario-based knowledge check at the end of the module. During the knowledge check, the learner was presented with different types of events and situations they may face while out in the field. The learner was asked multiple questions that might come up during each event and had to select what they would do in each situation. The knowledge check gave the learner full feedback on the correct answers immediately as they interacted with the eLearning module.
During Designing Digitally, Inc.’s Determine Phase, the team collectively determined the best possible approach to use a particular technology. During the Determine Phase, our team ensured that the proper technological tests were run and completed prior to production. By taking this approach, FCA gained full confidence that the finished product would work seamlessly in the company’s SABA LMS environment, while being able to be delivered globally. The development for this eLearning module was created specifically for desktop usage; however, the Designing Digitally, Inc. Web Programmers custom coded the system to allow for mobile use of this learning experience in the future.
FCA US LLC has delivered this learning experience to over 14,000 employees within the first 6 months of launch. The feedback has been very positive, with over 11,000 learners completing the module and providing numerous positive comments about the learning experience. The process, integration, and deployment of this custom eLearning project have exceeded FCA’s learning expectations.
As a result, FCA learners are actively reporting political activity and are also asking more questions to confirm what they should be reporting. This project is now a part of mandatory training for FCA employees starting this calendar year. We look forward to the future results of this training ecosystem for FCA.
