It is easy to create simple corporate eLearning courses. But, you need that extra zing to make your eLearning engaging and effective. An effective corporate eLearning program helps in fulfilling your business objectives. It motivates learners to improve their skills and boost productivity.
Here are six tips that will help you in creating immersive and engaging eLearning training programs.
The content must be relevant to your audience. Your employees are hard-pressed for time. They multitask to get their job done. If you are asking them to take out time from their busy schedules and devote it to learning, there should be something relevant for them. The content must be thoroughly researched and tailored to the needs of the learners. Learners only learn if they find it useful to their job profile. Using the right tools to deliver content shortens the time for learning.
Roughly 70% of corporate learners prefer learning on their mobile devices. Your strategy should optimize the content for mobile learners. You cannot ignore modern learners who prefer learning on the move. Choose tools that are responsive, so that you do not need to rework the content design twice – for desktops and for mobile devices. Responsive learning layouts automatically adapt to the screen size of the device being used to access eLearning.
Keep in mind that mobile learners will view the course on their phones. Complex navigation will not work. Avoid long drop-downs. Keep the menu bar clear and simple to understand. Offer learners the option to pick up from where they left off for a particular module. Remember their language choices. This simplifies the learner experience to a great extent.
Corporate eLearning must be engaging and interactive. The content only has a few seconds to get your learners hooked. Use visual aids in place of text to make the course interesting. Use interactive design techniques. If learners are made to sit through training that simply ‘talks’ to them, they will lose interest midway.
Learning design must consider all learning style. Some learners prefer visuals, others learn better with text, yet some other learners prefer learning through videos. Blending all the elements in a balanced manner will ensure that eLearning is effective.
Make the experience personal. Use names. Tailor the assessments to their skill level. Give learners the freedom to choose their learning path. This allows learners to feel special and learn better.
